Two power-packed lineups will tussle on Wednesday evening at one of the most batting-friendly venues in the country, M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, as defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) play host to the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

Currently, RCB is third in the points table, courtesy of three wins and one loss, and LSG is seventh, having won two and lost as many matches.

While RCB have been a largely settled and in-form unit even in the absence of Josh Hazlewood, LSG are still finding their best XI, but their biggest worry right now perhaps is the form, or lack of it, of Nicholas Pooran. Tonight, on a batting paradise that is the Chinnaswamy Stadium, Pooran would love to unleash himself.

LSG have arguably the best new ball pace attack in Mohammed Shami, Prince Yadav, and Avesh Khan/Mohsin Khan, while Phil Salt and Virat Kohli are coming off a destructive opening stand against the Mumbai Indians. Watch out for the LSG seamers against RCB’s top order tonight.

RCB vs LSG head-to-head record:

RCB vs LSG: Are Virat Kohli Playing Today?

Virat Kohli, who had picked up a leg issue against the Mumbai Indians, is fit and plays today against Lucknow. However, Kohli will not take the field during LSG’s innings and will come in as an Impact Player.

LSG vs RCB: Is Mayank Yadav Playing Today?

LSG fast bowler Mayank Yadav continued to miss out and will not play today against RCB. Mayank burst onto the scene last season through the weight of his sheer pace, often clocking 150 kph. However, he has been sidelined this season so far due to injuries.

He has been bowling in the nets and has upped the intensity and workload. Interestingly, Tom Moody, LSG’s global director of cricket, said on Tuesday, “Mayank is ready to go,” but he misses out on today’s match against RCB.
